Measuring the Cost to
Downingtown’s Citizens

Downingtown awarded the Kardon contract in early 2007. The Friends of kardon Park began their lawsuit agains this project more than two years later after numerous hearings were held and approvals granted.

Under normal time frames, the plans for the capping of the contamination and the construction of the homes would have received final approval by Spring of 2009 with construction following shortly thereafter.

The capping and the clean up of the site would have been completed by September 2009.

This schedule would have allowed the first settlements to occur in January 2010, with a conservative total of 30 homes settled in 2010.

Because of the Friends of Kardon Park's lawsuit and Ann Feldman's personal lawsuit in East Caln,
the Borough of Downingtown has already lost approximately $4 million dollars
or $ 1,600 per taxpayer.

185 jobs have not been created.

Downingtown Area School District has lost nearly $38,000.
